Donate furniture

A WINSFORD charity which almost went out of existence following a devastating fire less than two years ago is appealing for donations and volunteers.

Furniture Finders of Winsford is asking residents to donate unwanted household furniture and appliances so they can be distributed at low cost to people in need.

The charity's former base in Over Recreation Ground was gutted in a blaze in October 2004 but it has now moved to new headquarters in Winsford Industrial Estate.

Charity coordinator Gary Cliffe said: "We are now in a position where we can start collecting furniture so we would like to hear from anyone who would like to make a donation. In the first six weeks we have collected more than 10 tonnes of furniture so it is going really well."

Gary is also asking for volunteers to help carry out the vital work within the community.

He said: "We have a van going out two days a week to collect furniture and we are hoping to make that four days a week when we are really up and running.

"We need people to drive the van as well as help in the warehouse and man the phones so there really is a lot to do and it would look fantastic on someone's CV for them to say they have done this."

Gary is delighted the charity is finally starting to carry out its plans following two years of hard work.

He said: "It's great that we are finally taking in furniture again and I'm sure we will be a great success. We are all really pleased and if anyone can help us out further we would love to hear from them."

To donate an item of furniture or for more information on how to become a volunteer, call Gary on 0845 026 4727.
