WHEN WILL THE MISERY END?

THERE is no end in sight for motorists who have suffered traffic chaos for almost a month at a busy Winsford junction.

Angry motorists are demanding to know why resurfacing work at the A54 town bridge roundabout, which began on June 30, has still not been completed.

Alan Halpin, of Pentland Close, said: "We want to know what is going on because nothing seems to be happening there.

"There hasn't been any work going on for at least a week and all this time the traffic is horrendous.

"At peak times it is backed right up High Street and it's impossible to get down Station Road.

"It adds 10 to 15 minutes to your journey time and a lot of people are getting very frustrated by it.

"Everyone just wants to know what is going on because at the moment it's just a joke."

But Cheshire County Council yesterday confirmed that a completion date has not yet been set for the work but the issue will be discussed during a meeting this week. A spokesman said: "At the moment we cannot say when it will be completed.

"We will continue to advise people how progress is going through signage and in the Guardian."

Another motorist, who wishes to remain anonymous, is also frustrated by the apparent lack of work taking place.

He said: "There just doesn't seem to be any action there.

"It is a major road through Winsford and a lot of traffic goes through there.

"There are hold ups every evening and there hardly seems to be anyone doing anything. It's an embarrassment to whoever is responsible for it."
