Please join the fight to save inpatient unit
AS my grandmother has been a patient on the inpatient unit at Northwich Victoria Infirmary, I feel that I must express my concerns regarding its closure. This unit has 31 beds serving the elderly and those patients requiring palliative care in our community. My grandmother's care was excellent while in the hospital. Her wishes and dignity were respected at all times. The nursing staff were most professional while being friendly. If this proposed closure goes ahead what becomes of them? They must be extremely worried. The article in the July 5 edition stated that a 30-bed unit was to be opened in Winsford. At this moment in time this building is derelict and according to sources is for Winsford residents only. So what about Northwich residents? Are they to be forgotten? Or dumped at Leighton? Surely anyone who has any knowledge of the excellent care given at Northwich Infirmary, despite its age, must support the SONIC campaign. ANDREW OWEN
