The only way we can get the dream is to work at it
RESIDENTS are being called to unite in the battle to return Kingsmead to its former glory. A fledgling residents' association has been established after mounting concerns about the level of maintenance on the estate. Now more homeowners are being urged to join it and give Kingsmead people a voice. Concerned resident Chris Colclough said: "A number of us have formed Kingsmead Residents' Association. "It is in its infancy and the idea now is to get a bit of recognition and let the residents of Kingsmead know we are looking to form and take forward a proper residents' association." She added: "The more people we have in the association the more others will take heed and listen to what we are saying. We're trying to get as many people together as possible so we have a strong voice and people can see we mean business." Many homeowners in Kingsmead pay a maintenance fee for the upkeep of the estate but problems between CPM - an asset management company that runs and finances its maintenance - and sub-contractors have meant rubbish and dog bins left unemptied, uncollected litter strewn around play areas and mown grass left lying where it was cut down. Chris, also a Davenham parish councillor, said: "You buy a house in an environment you believe is great and we're disappointed it isn't being maintained to the appropriate standards - and residents pay for that. "We all feel the same and still want to live in the environment we chose in the first place." Another resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "We were sold a dream which, as far as I'm concerned, is non-existent. The only way this can be sorted is if people get together in a positive fashion." A group website has been set up for people to post messages about problems on the estate and to express an interest in joining the association.
