Show off your prized exhibits

PREPARATIONS are well under way for the annual Weaverham Village Show.

The event, which has been running for the past 12 years, takes place on Saturday, August 5, and coordinator Liz Gidley hopes mid Cheshire residents will go along to the community centre and show their support.

Villagers from Weaverham and Acton Bridge who wish to take part in the event will have an extended choice of competition categories to try their hand at this year.

A photography section has been added to the usual line up.

Prizes will be awarded for the best colour or black and white entries from both adults and juniors, and judging will take place from 2pm.

Popular floral categories include rose and flower arrangement titles and fresh produce will be judged in the vegetable and fruit, domestic produce and wine-making sections.

Creativity will also be witnessed by judges as entrants submit their items in the handicraft section, which will invite entries such as handmade lace, handmade cards, patchwork items and soft fabric or knitted toys, the woodcraft category and art division.

Junior competitions will be hosted and exhibitors will have the chance to claim shields from Weaverham Trust and the parish council during the prizegiving at 4pm.

Show programmes are available now from the village community centre and Weaverham Library, in Russet Road.

Entries, costing 25p per title, will be accepted at the community centre between 1pm and 8pm on Friday, August 4.
