Factory wins by playing it safe

NESTLÉ'S chilled dairy factory in Cuddington has been awarded the company's chairman's award for the best improved safety performance in the UK.

The site was assessed in the number of 'near misses' it had, days lost due to accidents, lost time injuries and safety interventions carried out.

A spokeswoman said: "Safety interventions are designed to challenge unsafe behaviours and commend the safe behaviours.

"Near miss reporting is encouraged because it allows actions to be taken to prevent potential injury to employees, contractors, visitors and anyone who may be affected by work carried out on the site.

"This increase in the site's safety performance is due to the commitment and dedication of the entire workforce."
