David's a troubled soul

SO, troubled soul David was behind the Hillman cards after all (Coronation Street).

Audrey dealt with the situation by giving him a good old-fashioned hiding, while Gail's instinct was to try to get to the bottom of why her son had transformed into a scheming little so-and-so.

"I've brought a string of violent men into this house," she said to Sarah Lou, who quite accurately pointed out that Martin wasn't a freak show.

"And where's he?" Gail exclaimed, "On the other side of the country with his new family!"

At least, I think that's what she said. I couldn't be sure. Because the last time I looked, Martin had moved to Liverpool. That's right, half an hour up the M62. Have I missed something crucial in the plot? Were my ears deceiving me? Clearly not, from feedback I have received from fellow viewers.

Whatever David's motives are, at least he managed to get rid of Gail's weird boyfriend Phil, who always seemed to be just one step away from burying somebody under the patio.

And you can't be too hard on a first-time offender, particularly when they are exposed by a paper cut. No doubt David will have a few sessions with a shrink and put his dark years behind him.

Over in Hollyoaks, if Gilly isn't related to the Ashworth family, then why does he appear to be a permanent fixture in their home? He eats his meals with them, answers the telephone - he even popped up when Rhys and Sarah were trying to spend some time alone together earlier this week. It's one thing being invited round, but quite another to clearly wander in and out as he chooses. Does he actually live there?

Meanwhile, Becca met Jake and his mum in Gnosh for lunch and spent the whole time with a look on her face that screamed 'guilty! I had an affair with a schoolboy!'

Question was, why did she agree to go in the first place when she knows Justin works there?

Following his conviction for rape, are there still any Sam fans out there? If you're wondering if you will ever get to see him again, fear not. He will return, and in dramatic style - and his actions look set to mark the end for a group of characters, but who will perish and who will survive?

And will Max and Claire's wedding go ahead? If it does, I fear Max's future could be very bleak. I give it six months before she's fleeced him and done a runner!
