Can you Believe it?

WHAT with all the death, drama, secrets and lies in soapland, it is no wonder that characters go searching for something to believe in, and if ever there was a bonkers storyline for scriptwriters to be creative with, it's that of the wicked cult.

Most memorable was psycho Simon in Brookside who made it his mission to recruit and corrupt Scousers before attempting to blow them all up.

Now we've got Home and Away's Tasha trying to escape weird sect The Believers.

It's taken her far too long to realise that they are a bunch of freaks, although I expect if somebody kept telling me I was the 'chosen one', flattery would get them everywhere.

Tasha managed to use her worthy status to turn the members of the cult against freakshow Mumma Rose - much to her embarrassment.

But surely there'll be nobody more embarrassed than Tasha after this escapade.

I mean, let's face it. Joining a cult is right up there with taking sweets off strangers and not following the Green Cross Code.

Similarly, in Neighbours, Sky's gone off the rails and kissed her lecturer, the oddly-named JP (always be suspicious of people who go by initials). Cavorting with your teacher is right up there with dating somebody at work. There will be trouble ahead...

Over in Emmerdale, Viv was heartbroken when she discovered that she would never be able to have another baby.

I feel for her, but asking Kelly to be a surrogate surely shows she's lost the plot.

You'd be hard-pressed to get Kelly to babysit, let alone put on weight and devote nine months to any baby project.

Surely Viv's had enough of bringing up children anyway after the dramas that Scott has caused her. Having said that, he turned out all right in the end, exposing Dawn as a benefit cheat and all that...
