Chernobyl's children can smile again
LITTLE Dziana Stchukina is pictured having fun at the home of Sandra and Mike Moors. Dziana, aged four, is one of five children from Belarus who are on holiday in the local area with their mums. The 19-day visit has been organised by the Alsager and Crewe branch of the Chernobyl Children's Project UK. The children are aged between five and seven, and have health problems linked to the radioactive legacy of the explosion in 1986 at the Chernobyl nuclear plant. A programme of events and has been organised for the children, including trips to a monkey forest, Lakemore Country Park, Little Moreton Hall and Esporta. Dziana is pictured with mum Luidmila and Mrs Moors at a barbecue laid on by the Moors at their home in Eaton.
